Welcome to the Cecchetti Society Trust Newsletter

In our first Newsletter of 2024 the Trust is pleased to share details of the application process for General Grants and our new Small Grant initiative. It is an opportunity for individuals or organisations planning Cecchetti events or projects to apply for support.

Support for individual teachers and students to study the Cecchetti work continues as a Trust priority. Applications are invited for Teachers Study Bursaries 2024 and Student Summer Study Bursaries 2024.

2024 is an important year for the international Cecchetti community with the Cecchetti International Classical Ballet (CICB) Competition taking place in the USA in July. Find out more below about the first steps some young dancers are taking to be part of this prestigious event.

ISTD Cecchetti Student Selection

Congratulations to all the students who took part in this event on 11th February 2024 at Elmhurst Ballet School, or via online selection.   The day was organised by the Cecchetti Society Classical Ballet Faculty to select students to represent the ISTD at the CICB Competition 2024. The onstage ballet class was taken by Peter Parker and the contemporary class by Kate Durrant, accompanied by Jonnie Gait.  The Adjudicators were Ruth Brill and Jonathan Payn. The Trust was pleased to support this event and will be providing a number of bursaries. The students selected to compete in the prestigious CICB Competition in Michigan, USA will be announced soon.

Small Grants & General Grants

Online Meeting - Wednesday 6th March 2024 - 10.00 am
The Cecchetti Society Trust is inviting applications for Small Grants (up to £500) and General Grants (over £500) for the academic year 2024/25.  The Grants are to support events, activities or projects that will extend opportunities for Cecchetti learners beyond an individual school/teacher/student.  Applications may be made by individuals or organisations but should align with the Trust’s objective to encourage, support and promote participation in Cecchetti classical ballet.

Teachers Study Bursaries 2024
Application deadline -1st March 2024!

The Cecchetti Society Trust has a range of bursaries given annually to support teachers in their study of the Cecchetti Method of classical ballet. Bursaries are to help teachers wanting to further their professional development in 2024 with a course of study, attendance at a summer school or course, or through taking an examination. A bursary could help teachers achieve this aim and applications are open to those studying ISTD Cecchetti in the UK and Internationally.

Student Summer Study Bursaries 2024
Applications open!

The Trust is offering Students Summer Study Bursaries to support young dancers who are attending a Cecchetti Summer School or intensive course of Cecchetti study in the coming months in the UK or Internationally. Students must be aged 9 - 21 years by the 31st August 2024 and studying at ISTD Cecchetti Grade 4 /Class Exam 4 level or higher. Don’t miss the deadline of 13th May 2024 for your students to apply for a Cecchetti Society Trust Student Summer Study Bursary. Applications are open to students studying ISTD Cecchetti in the UK and Internationally. Further information and an application form can be found using the link button below.
